I like to show up places I read about in the news, and talk to the people who live there. Instead of going to museums or galleries to learn about a place, I prefer to go to the garbage dumps and find the studios, art and music where the local creatives are expressing themselves. I find that’s usually a better way to get an actual account of the current feelings of a place. This is a process I like to call the art of intervention.
